The Shasta County Sheriff's Office (SCSO) said a body was found in the area of Shasta Lake where crews had been searching for 22-year-old Maxziel Castro. Deputies with the SCSO's Boating Safety Unit responded to a report of a deceased person in Shasta Lake east of the Salt Creek Inlet on June 23. The discovery was made near the area where authorities had been searching for Castro. SCSO deputies and Cal Fire personnel recovered the body from the water and confirmed the victim was dead.
