Gerrad Esnault, 35, was reported missing on Sunday, June 21, 2026, after not returning from a hike near Middletown Park Drive and the Swasey Park trails. After a multiple day search for Esnault, he was found by community members in the Stoney Gulch Trail area in Western Shasta County. Esnault said he was hiking in the area when he became lost. SCSO officials say Esnault was evaluated by medical personnel for minor injuries and transported to a local hospital for further evaluation.
