A suspicious package was discovered on the front porch of the Gold Nugget Museum in Paradise on Tuesday, June 23, 2026. Officers responded to the report and temporarily closed portions of Pearson Road and Academy Drive while they investigated the package. The Butte County Inter-Agency Bomb Squad assisted with the investigation and determined that the package did not pose an explosive threat to the community. Police believe the package was placed to intimidate or alarm members of the public, particularly current museum board members.
The investigation remains ongoing.
