Jury selection began Tuesday in the trial of Colton Roan, who is accused of murdering his grandparents, Julian Uranga, 76, and Karen Uranga, 73, in 2022. Roan, 32, appeared in court as prospective jurors were questioned in connection with the deaths. Detectives allege Roan stabbed his grandparents multiple times and struck them with a fire extinguisher. The killings occurred on the grandparents' property, where Roan was living in a travel trailer at the time.
His mother, who is also Roan's daughter, discovered the bodies inside their home. Roan has pleaded not guilty to two counts of murder and several special-circumstance allegations.
