Cal Fire crews responded to a vehicle fire that spread to vegetation off Sunset Hills Drive near Interstate 5 in Cottonwood on Wednesday afternoon. The fire was last reported to be burning a quarter-acre off Sunset Hills Drive near Interstate 5. California Highway Patrol (CHP) logs show the vehicle fire was first reported around 1:25 p.m. The logs indicate the vehicle went into a ditch and caught fire. One person was reported to be out of the vehicle.
The southbound off-ramp to Sunset Hills Drive was closed because fire equipment was blocking the area, according to CHP logs.
